The pupils from year five of New Mills Primary School began their day with a stunning walk in glorious winter sunshine along the Peak Forest Canal from New Mills to Tesco at Whaley Bridge.

They were greeted by the staff and their “Farm to Fork” Trail began.

Donning tabards and clipboards, the children took to the shop floor to discover more about where their food comes from.

They had a variety of activities organised by the store, which all took place in the produce (fruit and vegetable) aisles.

Following this, the children and their accompanying staff were treated to a visit to the warehouse and the fridges.

They walked into the fridges and experienced the change in temperature.

A slightly drizzly walk back along the canal finished off the day for the class, who were a credit to their school during their visit.
