High Peak Borough Council has had to pay the firm which manages their leisure facilities an undisclosed sum for loss of income while the much-delayed Buxton swimming pool project was completed.
The pool re-opened last week after being closed for 21 months.
The Advertiser had asked the council how much had been paid to operators DC Leisure in compensation for business lost, and Anthony McKeown, executive councillor for community services, replied:
“The council reimbursed DC Leisure for loss of income resulting from the pool’s closure.
“Payments were made in accordance with a legal agreement between the two organisations.
“The total payment is commercially sensitive information and is therefore confidential.”
