Children at Tideswell Pre-School have been learning all about the role of their local Safer Neighbourhood officer following a recent visit.

PCSO Ian Phipps from the Tideswell Safer Neighbourhood Team paid a visit to youngsters at Tideswell Pre-School as part of their class topic of ‘People We Can Trust’.

During his visit on Friday, June 26, PCSO Phipps spoke to the class about the role of the Safer Neighbourhood officers and how they work together to help keep communities safe.

The children also had the chance to learn more about the policing role by looking around the police car.

PCSO Ian Phipps said: “Visits such as this are a great way for children to engage with police from an early age and learn all about the work that we do to help keep their community safe.

“It is really important that they know who their local police are, so that if they are ever in trouble and need help in the future, they know a friendly face they can turn to. I think their favourite part was definitely testing out the car!”
