A spokesperson for the force said: “We are still searching for Christopher and are growing increasingly concerned for his safety.

“He is from Buxton but we believe he is sleeping rough in wooded areas and are asking walkers who are out and about this weekend to call us immediately if they see him.”

His family has released a number of images, one of which shows Christopher wearing a blue Berghaus hooded jacket, which is what he was wearing when he went missing.

He also wore light grey jogging bottoms, a blue t-shirt and black walking boots.

She said: “Words can’t describe how we’re all feeling just now.

“Please keep helping us find him by looking out for him.”
