THE DEATHS of five patients at Stockport’s Stepping Hill Hospital are now being investigated by police.
Detectives from Greater Manchester Police are investigating a further two deaths at the hospital, amid allegations that saline solutions were found to have been deliberately contaminated.
The deaths of three patients George Keep, 84 from Cheadle, Arnold Lancaster, 71, from Romiley and 44-year-old Tracey Arden from Stockport were already under investigation and officers are now also looking at the death of an 83-year-old man who suffered a hypoglycaemic episode on July 11 and who died today and an 84-year-old woman who died on July 14. Her death was referred to GMP yesterday by the coroner due to her low blood sugar level.
* A 27-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday remains in police custody for questioning. Police have confirmed she is an employee at the hospital.
