Police appeal for information into attempted thefts of motorcycles in New Mills and Hayfield

Police are appealing for more information after the attempted thefts of motorcycles in Hayfield and New Mills.

On September 11, at about 4.45pm, police were called to a house on The Glade, Hayfield, after a report that two teenagers had entered a garage where a motorbike was stored.

A 33-year-old man, who was at home at the time, heard their voices and challenged the intruders. The teenagers ran off. They were described as being in their mid to late teens and wearing dark clothing.

A further incident took place where three teenagers took a bicycle from the porch of a property in New Mills Road, Hayfield. The owner and another member of the public chased after the trio and the bike was abandoned.

One man aged 18 and two boys aged 16 and 17 were arrested in connection with these incidents and released under investigation.
