Police are appealing to the public for help with the investigation into a serious assault in Buxton.

On Friday February 7 at 4.40pm a man was doused in accelerants and set on fire.

He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Officers are seeking help from the public and would ask anyone who saw people gathering just up from Tikka Villa takeaway on Fairfield Road at 4.30pm that day, saw a disturbance near to the takeaway between 4.30pm and 4.40pm that day or has any further information relating to this incident to contact Derbyshire police using the non-emergency 101 number.

• Jake Grimshaw, 23, of South Mews, Buxton has been charged with attempted murder. He is due to appear at Derby Crown Court on Monday February 24.
