Police appeal after Glossop distraction burglary

Police in Glossop are appealing for information after a woman had jewellery stolen from her during a distraction burglary.

Sometime on the morning of Wednesday May 29, a man knocked on the door of a house on Bamford Green and was allowed in by the 62-year-old resident.

The man asked the woman if she wanted to sell any jewellery but she said no. The man left and a short time later the victim realised some items of jewellery had been stolen from the dining room.

The man is described as in his 60s, of a stocky build, wearing a tweed jacket and shirt and tie.

The stolen jewellery included a gold chain, and two gold and diamond rings.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone in the Glossop or Gamesley area who has been visited by anyone offering to buy gold jewellery from them door-to-door.

Anyone with information is asked to call Glossop CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
