PCSO Rachael Blackley from the Buxton Town Safer Neighbourhood Team visited Buxton Community School last week to chat with pupils in Years 7 and 8 about the subject and where they can find help if they have been a victim.

During the visit on Monday, February 27, PCSO Blackley spoke to the pupils during a presentation on cyberbullying. This included discussing what it is, how it happens, and if they are a victim of cyber bullying, where they can get help.

PCSO Rachael Blackley said: “Bullying is not just in the playground, it is also heading online to social media sites, games and mobile phones, so it is important that we discuss the issue with youngsters to raise awareness.

“During the presentation, I spoke about what cyberbullying is, including spreading rumours of someone online and posting embarrassing or nasty photographs, and gave them advice on where to go for help and advice. I also spoke to the group about how to recognise if they are in fact bullying someone online, and where they can also get help.

“The children asked some great questions to myself and the teaching staff and really got involved with the topic.”
