Police alerted after drunk youths’ fire threat

Police had to be called in after a group of drunken youths threatened to restart a small fire in woodland in Buxton if it was extinguished.

Firefighters were called to Millersdale Way in Buxton at around 9.30pm last night (Friday) and used water backpacks to put out the small fire which, was found in a wooded area.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue said: “Police were also called to the incident as there were approximately 20 intoxicated youths in the woodland who stated they would relight the fire if the fire service extinguished it.”
