Whaley Bridge Rose Queen Festival celebrated its 40th anniversary in style on Saturday.
Hundreds turned out to cheer on the participants in the grand procession as it made its way through the town from Canal Street to Whaley Bridge Bowling Club, where the afternoon’s festivities continued.
The annual Whaley Waltz Fell Race also took place, with a bumper field setting off from outside The Railway Hotel.
Celebrations continue tomorrow (Sunday) with a service at Holy Trinity Church at 10.30am, and performances from Whaley Bridge Band at 2pm at Tom Brad’s Croft and at 3pm at the Canal Basin.
Sandwiched in between, at 2.30pm, will be the blessing of the well dressing, also at the Canal Basin. This year’s well dressing will feature Whaley Band, in recognition of their 150th anniversary.
On Wednesday, the annual pet show will be held at Whaley Bridge Bowling Club, with judging getting underway at 6.30pm prompt.
