It was full steam ahead for a nostalgic journey into the past at the annual Buxworth Steam Party.

Vintage vehicle enthusiasts rolled back the years with their magnificent machines, which went on show around the High Peak village this weekend.

The display featured a collection of steam-powered engines, working narrowboats and other vintage vehicles.

Visitors were also treated to entertainment, children’s amusements and live music on both Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.

Buxworth Steam Party made its debut in 1979 when Frank and Tony Marchington, Frank and Jack Hardman and Norris Lawton showed their traction engines and steam rollers in the village at the end of the show season.

The parties continued every year through to the 1980s, and following a break in proceedings the event was revived in 2011 by local enthusiasts.
