A week of festivities commenced on Saturday with Chapel-en-le-Frith’s grand carnival procession.
Despite the damp conditions, locals turned out to cheer on the participants in the parade as it made its way from The Jolly Carter to the carnival field at Chapel Leisure Centre for an afternoon of fun and entertainment.
The bumper Chapel Carnival weekend continues tomorrow (Sunday) with a six-a-side football competition at the leisure centre from 10am, followed in the afternoon by a pet show, tug of war competition and children’s sports in the Memorial Park.
Rems hosts a quiz night on Tuesday at 9.30pm, while a parade of classic cars and bikes will be held at the Old Pack Horse on Wednesday from 7pm, complete with live band and barbecue.
Another new addition will be a talent show at Chapel Playhouse on Thursday (June 25) from 6.30pm, with junior and senior categories.
For full details on these and other events, pick up a carnival programme on sale at shops and businesses in the town, priced £1, or visit the Chapel Carnival Facebook page.
