National recognition for Fairfield community champion on International Women's Day
Fairfield’s very own Lia Roos was one of 30 people nationwide to get a special pamper hamper delivered by Morrisons supermarket to mark International Women’s Day.
The doorstep delivery was made on Monday, March 8 by Chapel-en-le-Frith’s Morrisons Community Champion Joanne Hazlehurst to a very shocked and surprised Lia who said: “I can’t believe it – little old me being one of only 30 people in the country to get a box full of goodies, I’m over the moon.”
Lia was nominated due to her passion for the community and her tireless work at the Residents of Fairfield Association and inside the box were cake and chocolates as well as bubble bath, wine and candles.
Lia said: “I love it, it’s a proper pamper hamper and I’m so grateful to have been nominated. I knew nothing about it and it was such a lovely surprise when I opened my door.
"We have done a lot of work with Chapel Morrisons recently during the pandemic and they have been brilliant helping us with all the work we do and its so nice to have been thought of and especially on International Women’s Day too, I feel very honoured."
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
Lia joked: “I’m an International Woman now, that’s something to be proud of, I feel almost famous now.”
A spokesperson for Morrisons Chapel-en-le-Frith store said in response to Lia’s public thank you “You're more than welcome Lia.”
