Metal detectorists raise £500 for Chinley disability day centre

It was raised during events where detectorists paid £10 each to participate.

Derbyshire Diggers member Steve Mills, 66, of New Mills, told how his brother had been cared for at the centre before his death in 2008 aged 54.

He said: “It made me very happy to be able to contribute something.”

Steve said he wanted to thank the owner of the land members used to hold their metal detecting fundraiser - Mr Hardman.

Alderbrook provides day services - including activities such as sports, music therapy, dancing, art and sensory sessions - to meet the needs of people with learning disabilities in the High Peak.

People who attend Alderbrook may have a range of needs including autism, profound and multiple learning disabilities, complex needs and challenging behaviours.
