Blythe House Hospicecare has launched its first ever #GoBlueForBlytheHouse campaign, aimed at encouraging local people to wear blue clothing or fancy dress and give a donation to support patient care and services.

The hospice, based in Chapel-en-le-Frith, offers outreach services to patients and families affected by life-limiting illnesses including cancer, heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and neurological conditions such as motor neurone disease.

Freya and Ethan Cawthorn-Morris are supporting the campaign to help raise hospice funds, after their mum, Charlotte Cawthorn began attending Blythe House in 2018, following her breast cancer diagnosis.

Local supporters are gearing up to make history by taking part in #GoBlueForBlytheHouse, including dressing up, hosting bake sales, bingo, quizzes, birthday parties, coffee mornings and sponsored walks.

And Blythe House volunteer Sue Boulton is going beyond her call of duty on Saturday, March 28, as she is set to paint herself blue and head out in Buxton to help raise funds.

Sue said: “Apart from being involved in various fundraising events, I also volunteer on reception at Blythe House once a week.

“I see so many people benefit from having support here.

“It is such a warm, friendly and welcoming place that people make friends, and have a laugh too.

“I love being a volunteer for Blythe House and I decided my way to contribute will be to dress up as Smurfette, all blue.

“Alongside the hospice’s mascot, Blythe Bear. I’ve had fun finding the outfit – it’s amazing what you can find in Blythe House charity shops.”

The #GoBlueForBlytheHouse initiative is open to everyone including school children, students, work colleagues, and members of the public, who can choose any day throughout March 2020 to wear blue and donate to Blythe House.

Fundraising packs, which are crammed full of helpful information and inspiring ideas, are available from the hospice.
