The kind-hearted gesture was thought up by Sophie Postill who works at Little Jules Childcare on Croft Street.

The 26-year-old manager said: “Stepping Hill always seem to get forgotten but it’s our local hospital and we just wanted to do something to make people smile.

"This last year has shown us how quickly things can change and all the hospital staff, and key workers have been amazing but there are still people in hospital with other problems and health worries and we just wanted to do something nice.”

Parents of the children who attend the nursery or after school clubs are being asked to donate eggs and so are the public.

Sophie said: “It was important for the children that we still do something for Easter as we know a lot of people haven’t seen grandparents or cousins for a while and it has been tough for them but this has given them something to focus on.

"They understand the eggs are for the poorly children and they’ve been really excited to see the collection of eggs build up.”

Little Jules also has a site in New Mills and donations can be made at either setting.

Sophie said: “We will still be taking donations until Saturday, April 3 and if you’d like to donate we know they will help cheer up a child stuck in hospital.”
