Buxton's Pandora store to close next month

Jewellers Pandora are set to close their store at Buxton’s Springs Shopping Centre next month.

Though the company has yet to officially confirm the closure a worker at the store said it would permanently shut on February 1.

The closure comes after Buxton’s high street lost several big names including Marks and Spencer and Dorothy Perkins this year.

Initial hopes the empty M&S unit would be filled with a new tenant have faded - as a to let sign recently appeared on the building.

Roddie MacLean, chairman of business organisation Vision Buxton, said the news about Pandora was ‘disappointing’.

However he added: “They obviously had targets to meet and were not meeting expectations.

“I’m always optimistic about Buxton though - as part of the Future High Streets funding we’re looking at new shop fronts in Spring Gardens itself.

“The days of 1980s-style covered malls are limited now I’d say.”
