Buxton sports coaches post videos to keep children active during coronavirus lockdown

A Buxton-based sports coaching project is posting daily activities online to keep children entertained and physically active during the coronavirus lockdown.

Chris Hill Community Sports coaches are publishing energetic videos covering everything from dancing to sporting challenges such as football keepie uppies.

Coaches keep kids moving with a staple Saturday morning live dance session and child-friendly exercise regimes - including one themed around catching the bus.

In one video one of the coaches is filmed in various outdoor locations telling the classic children’s story We’re Going On A Bear Hunt.

Another shows a football coach passing a ball through a pair of socks to help budding players improve their skills.

Parents and youngsters taking part in live dance sessions share video clips of themselves joining in.

Owner Chris Hill told how the project - which has been providing sport provision in schools, nurseries and school sporting holiday camps for 8 years - had switched to online provision when the Government’s emergency measures were imposed.

He said: “We do lot of school community activities but that cannot happen now.

“This is a way to keep the business running and see some familiar faces - it’s nice to get videos in from kids and see what they’ve been up to.

“The live sessions have been doing really well and there’s some great interaction thanks to all our fantastic coaches.”
