Service 16, operated by D&G Bus, connects Hanley, Leek and Buxton six days a week Monday to Saturday.

Kevin Crawford, operations director, said “The reintroduction of service 16 through to Buxton shows we have listened to feedback from our customers and I’m very pleased to be able to provide four journeys in each direction initially Monday to Saturday during these challenging times.

"We would encourage as many people as possible to use the service, to ensure its long-term viability along with helping to free up the roads through the countryside to Buxton. It’s much less fuss to travel by bus – our friendly drivers will be pleased to welcome you on board.”

Journeys on Service 16 running through to Buxton depart Hanley bus station at 8am, 10am, 12.30pm and 3pm calling at Leek, Bus Station at 8.40am, 10.40pm, 1.10pm and 3.45pm.

Service 16 departs from Buxton market place on Monday to Saturday at: 9.15am, 11.15am, 1.45pm and 4.20pm for all points through to Hanley.

This service also calls at Bucknall, Werrington, Cheddleton, Blackshaw Moor and Burbage between Hanley and Buxton.

Face coverings must be worn on all service 16 buses.

A Trans Peak bus service, provided by High Peak Buses, visits Bakewell Market that is open every Monday and boasts around 100 stalls. There is also a livestock market.

Matlock offers a range of attractions for visitors to explore, not least the Heights of Abraham. Since first opening to visitors in 1780 the Heights of Abraham has remained one of the Peak District’s most appealing destinations where stunning natural beauty is matched by human achievement and where the historic blends seamlessly with the futuristic. Today the Heights is famous for its landmark cable car which provides a spectacular journey across the Derwent Valley.
