Mid-Derbyshire Badger Group rescued the badger after it was hit by a vehicle in Bakewell on Tuesday night (January 21).
A bus driver alerted the group to the injured badger, who was named Barnabus in his honour.

The group updated their social media yesterday morning, to say that Barnabus was doing ‘far better’, and was on pain relief.
However, a further post was made this morning to inform people that Barnabus had deteriorated during the night, and had to be put to sleep.
The post said: “Barnabus deteriorated during the night and had seizures suggesting serious brain damage and has been put to sleep to save him suffering— feel quite upset but we did our best.”
