Peak District residents urged to be extra vigilant after crimes

Residents in Baslow and Beeley are being encouraged to be extra vigilant following crimes in the areas.

Sometime between 2.30am and 4.50am on Monday, offenders used tools to prise open the door of the Devonshire Arms in Nether End, Baslow. Once inside, they carried out a search before damaging the till and making off with cash and a set of keys.

Overnight between 10.15pm on Sunday and 7.40am the following morning, would-be burglars tried to gain entry to the Cafe On the Green in Nether End. Offenders also unsuccessfully attempted to prise open the door to the Old Smithy cafe in Beeley.

Following the incidents, residents are being encouraged to be vigilant and to report any suspicious vehicles or activity to police to help to stop a crime from happening.
