Due to a worrying spike in Covid cases, Glossopdale will be put under Tier 2 measures, High Peak MP Robert Largan has said.

The new rules start on Wednesday and are just for Glossopdale - the rest of the High Peak will be under the lower tier 1 measures that are currently in place.

•An exemption exists for paid and informal childcare, which applies to children under 14.

•You must minimise travel, but you can travel for education, work and go on holiday.

Travel to places elsewhere in the UK is allowed so long as local restrictions in those places are obeyed. You can still go on holidays outside the UK as well as per guidance.

•You can leave the county and local authority area but you cannot travel to a neighbouring county in order to mix households there. That is not allowed.

•The hospitality sector including pubs and restaurants will remain open.

•There will be increased financial support and increased support for test and trace in our area.

“To reiterate, this just covers Glossopdale. The rest of High Peak is not affected by the new rules.”

He added: “In order to exit tier 2, we will need to flatten the curve and then see case rates fall. The Government is looking at various factors, including number of cases per 100,000 people, the percentage of positive tests, and the number of people over 60 who have tested positive.

“This tier system will be visible on the NHS COVID-19 app.

“I will be working hard to get more information to you as soon as it is possible and doing everything I can to support local people and businesses.

“Together we can beat this and get our area out of these measures.”
