A talk on the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) was given by county representative and fundraiser Elaine Ward to Buxton Probus Club.

She spoke about losing her seemingly fit and healthy 17-year-old son, Neil five days before Christmas 1992.

Elaine and her husband Ian raise money to hold heart screening sessions for young people in Derbyshire where 100 young people aged 14-35 are screened in a day.

Since 2014 when Ian and Elaine held their first screening in memory of Neil, hey have raised the £35 per head needed for more than 1500 young people at 15

screenings across the local area which amounts to £57,500 including the £5000 for core funding.

National charity CRY estimates that at least 12 young people under the age of 35 die each week in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions.
