Pair in hospital after serious crash on Long Hill

Two people are in a serious but stable condition in hospital after a crash on Long Hill.

Police said a car and a van collided on the road just before 2pm today.

The car driver was flown by air ambulance to hospital in Stoke. The van driver was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: "Both people are in a serious but stable condition.

"We're currently clearing the road of debris."

The spokesman said it is hoped the route will be open by 8.30pm as it is intended to be used as a diversion route for heavy goods vehicles while a section of the A6 is closed in Buxton for a reconstruction after last week's fatal collision.
