A new mobile Post Office counter in Furness Vale is set to open next month.
Operating in Furness Vale Community Centre, the counter, which opens on December 9, will be managed by Tim Boothman, Postmaster from Chapel-en-le-Frith Post Office.
Once open, the counter will be available from 1.30pm to 4.30pm on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, providing full Post Office counter services for the convenience of local residents.
There are also plans to provide hot and cold drinks and snacks at the centre during the opening hours and to have a small shop selling essential household items.
Furness Vale Post Office and Village Store closed on August 1 when the owners retired, leaving the village without any shops. Since then, the community has fought to retain a community hub in the area, and bring back Post Office services to the village.
