Only Fools and Horses star John Challis, aka Boycie, is to perform in Buxton after fans campaigned on social media.
Challis was recently voted one of the UK’s most influential tweeters over the age of 50, because he has more than 50,000 followers and uses Twitter every day.
After a successful tour of his one- man show, Only Fools and Boycie, this spring, he is now playing one-off dates at the request of fans. He said: “Last summer, a number of them tweeted me and asked me to visit a variety of venues.
“I’ve played many Derbyshire venues in the past and I love coming here to play. I feel very humbled that so many people asked me to come to their town. I look forward to meeting them soon.”
He will arrive at the Pavilion Arts Centre on Friday, November 20, with stories from his life and work.
Highlights should include working with The Beatles and Oliver Reed, meeting The Rolling Stones, drinking with George Best, and starring on Coronation Street, Dr Who, The Green Green Grass and, of course, the people’s favourite, Only Fools and Horses.
John said: “It’s an intimate evening with me for company. Only Fools and Horses changed my life and it’s prompted some very funny episodes.
“People will have chance to ask questions and there’s also a meet ‘n’ greet after the show, so they can get autographs, photos and I’ll be signing copies of my autobiography.”
The show starts at 7.30pm, standard tickets cost £17.50. Book on 01298 72190 or www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
