Buxton Sea Cadets have again excelled themselves by proving they are the top sailing unit in the North West.
Six cadets were selected for the North West team of 13 which, competing against top sailors from the UK’s 400 sea cadet units, went on to win the recent National Sailing Regatta.
The trophy was last won by the North West team in 1991.
The Buxton cadets who participated were Matthew Naden, Mary Strutt, Jamie Coley and Sophia Palfreyman in the Bosun Class, Aaron Naden in the Pico Class and Chloe Fisher in the Topper Class.
Buxton Sea Cadets Commanding Officer, Lt (SCC) Bruce Luckman, said: “There are 60 sea cadet units in the North West area. We are the furthest from the sea and yet we provided half the team for the competition, an excellent achievement.”
Buxton Sea Cadets are on the look-out for new members aged ten to 18. For details, email Lt Luckman at email@example.com.
The group also welcomes adult volunteers who could assist with training, join the committee or help with fundraising activities.
