SIGNS at Buxton Station claiming a hearing loop system is in operation have been removed after it emerged the system had not yet been installed.
The problem was highlighted by disability campaigner David Law, who himself is hard of hearing.
He explained that without the system it was almost impossible to use the ticket office.
A spokeswoman for Northern Rail told the Advertiser: “An induction loop is being fitted as part of improvement work at the station, due to be complete by the end of the year.
“Unfortunately the sticker had been put up in error ahead of the loop being fitted but the station manager has had this taken down until the work is complete.
“We apologise for any concern or inconvenience this has caused and thank your reader for bringing the matter to our attention.”
