No family members have yet come forward after man is caught up in High Peak horror smash

No family members have yet come forward after a man was taken to hospital following a horror crash in the High Peak.

Police are trying to trace relatives and friends of David Ellison, 67, who was cycling along Station Road in Birch Vale at about 11.30am on Tuesday, January 5, when he was in collision with a large van.

He struck the wing mirror of the van and was knocked off his bike, suffering head injuries.

He was later taken to Hope Hospital in Salford where he remains in a stable condition.

Police issued an appeal last Wednesday for help to locate Mr Ellison’s friends and family.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said on Monday: “We’ve had a few members of the public come forward to say they’d seen him on his bike in the area but unfortunately we’ve not heard from any family members so we’re still appealing.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact officers on 101, quoting incident 206 of January 5.
