The Friends of New Mills Parks plans to transform Bowden Crescent Park at Ollersett into a community facility for families to enjoy.

A £40,000 grant from the commissioner’s Neighbourhoods Investing Criminal Earnings (NICE) Fund - made up of income confiscated from criminals - will help fund the installation of new park equipment, picnic tables, benches and pedestrian gates.

Mr Charles said: “This redevelopment project will give residents another reason to be proud of their local community and will keep youngsters busy and active.”

As part of the project, a community-led art installation will be built by community art group Creating Spaces.
