New micropub plan for Whaley Bridge

Michael Wilde has submitted a planning application to High Peak Borough Council seeking permission to convert a vacant former florist’s shop into a micropub.

In a statement, Mr Wilde said: “Over the past three months, we have been working to open our own tap house, a micropub free of tie, offering a permanent outlet for Whaley Bridge Brewery beers.

“Alongside our core range, we will be looking to offer beers from other independent craft breweries.

“Situated at 20 Old Road, next door to Edwin Wild’s Butchers, we are now at the planning stage and welcome all positive comments.”

Commenting on Facebook, Kay Winter said: “Looking forward to it!”

Dave Rhodes said: “It’s what Whaley Bridge needs.”

Fran Slack said: “Lots of good wishes. When you open we will stop in Whaley Bridge, instead of driving straight through it.”

According to the Micropub Association: “A micropub is a small freehouse which listens to its customers, mainly serves cask ales, promotes conversation, shuns all forms of electronic entertainment and dabbles in traditional pub snacks.”
