A brand new music event which aims to bring big names to a small town will be launched at Buxton’s Pavilion Gardens this March.
Endever Gold Ltd will be hosting ‘Pre-flight Entertainment’ at The Octagon which will see ska and reggae bands The Dualers and Aswad take to the stage, as well as several DJs.
The organisers are also offering local bands the unique opportunity to play as the support act to a potential crowd of 1,200 people.
Fairfield-born music manager Jane Hanlon said they decided to hold an event that would make it easier for people to see bands live.
She added: “Our ethos is bringing the artists to the people rather than people having to go into the cities.
“Some people fear going into the cities, it can be expensive, parking can be difficult and if you are driving then you cannot have a drink.
“We have always felt there is a need for a concert where people can get up close and personal with great artists, rather than the clinical atmosphere of some concerts where you are sat and can’t even get up and dance.”
The two concert headliners are The Dualers - a ten-piece band which has had international success and one of their songs featured on Hollywood movie ‘Fools Gold’, and popular 80s band Aswad whose brass section used to play for UB40.
Jane runs Endever Gold Ltd with her music producer partner Lesley Coleman who has worked with Gnarls Barkley and Sean Paul.
She explained that they had spent a while looking for the right venue to hold ‘Pre-flight Entertainment’, but they settled on The Octagon in the Pavilion Gardens.
Jane said: “It is such an underused concert hall which is actually a fantastic venue with beautiful architecture and great acoustics.
“It needs more life breathing back into it.”
Endever Gold hope that this event will be a huge success as they want to hold one every three to four months to showcase a variety of genres.
At Pre-flight Entertainment there will be an outdoor food pit where concert-goers can buy West Indian barbecue food, and a Gold bar selling reasonably-priced drinks.
Those who buy tickets before January 31 will be entered into a competition to win a seven-day, all-inclusive holiday to the West Indies for two people.
The event is on March 6 from 7pm until 1am, and those arriving before 8pm will get a free glass of rum punch. Tickets cost £25 and are available at www.skiddle.com or by calling Jane on 07887 882102.
Local bands should email a demo to firstname.lastname@example.org for the chance to perform.
