Plans to develop six new properties in Buxton have been refused after councillors claimed the homes would “stand out like a sore thumb”.
High Peak Borough Council unanimously voted against the plans to build six houses on land adjacent to White Knowle Road, Buxton, at a meeting on Monday.
The proposal was for six three-bedroom detached properties, each with detached garages. There were 10 letters of objection from residents living nearby.
Planning officers for the authority recommended that members refuse the application because the buildings would be “detrimental” to the appearance of London Road, adding that the building designs were “out of character” with the surrounding properties.
