New £3m independent living housing scheme opens in Buxton

A new specialist supported housing scheme for disabled adults has opened in Buxton.

Dale Valley View, on Dale Road, is a £3m development with 15 specialist apartments to enable tenants to live as independently as possible while also providing 24/7 help and support.

Councillor Jean Wharmby, Derbyshire County Council’s cabinet member for adult care, who officially opened the building, said: “It’s a welcome new development which will give people with a disability more choice about where they live.”

Alastair Sheehan, development and planning director for HBV, said: “This is a prime example of how specialist supported housing can make a huge difference to adults with disabilities.”

The official opening took place on Friday, attended by representatives of project partners and local dignitaries including High Peak MP Ruth George.
