Nestlé Waters signs four-year deal to partner Buxton Crescent

A partnership has been struck to honour the town's past as it takes its next steps to the future.

Nestlé Waters has signed a four-year deal to work with the Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust and tell the tale of the town’s waters in the new visitor experience centre 
when the Crescent Hotel re-opens.

Michel Beneventi, managing director of Nestlé Waters UK said: “This partnership makes sense and I’m thrilled to be on board working with the Crescent development.

“The town has been built on its water history and we are delighted to be helping to tell the tales of the past as we go forward into the town’s next chapter with the opening of the Crescent and the Pump Room.”

The Trust is developing exciting plans for an interactive hands-on visitor experience that residents and both national and international visitors can enjoy.

“It will be working closely with Nestlé Waters to ensure the town’s water is celebrated and the experience will tell the story of the water’s role in shaping Buxton and its spa heritage that is steeped in history.

“For so many hundreds of years people have come to Buxton to take the waters and people are still making this journey even today.

“This elixir of life, which still runs through the town, is just as important today as it was centuries ago as it now drives the factory which 
bottles the water and delivers our good water to the 
people all over Britain and beyond.

“The Buxton Waters logo is given to thirsty athletes and drunk in airports and service stations so we are delighted to be associated with such a product that promotes Buxton and is proud of its roots just as we are.

“People drinking those bottles may say: ‘where is Buxton?’ but we are here in the 
Peak District and we are a special place and we on the crest of a wave of something wonderful.

“The opening of the Crescent hotel will attract visitors from all over the world who will once again come to our town and drink our waters and that is very exciting.”

Nestlé Waters has been part of the Buxton community since 1992 and the site currently employs more than 220 people, three quarters of whom live within 15 miles of Buxton.

Michel was approached by the Trust who wanted to work in partnership with the water company and he said it became clear to him very quickly they needed to be part of this project.

He said: “This is a truly unique opportunity for us and for the town.

“We are proud to celebrate the town’s waters and I know the Trust has an exciting plan going forward.

“Water is a vital resource that is often overlooked but to us and those in the town who have built a livelihood on these spa waters nothing is more important.

“Buxton Water is one of the most special natural thermal mineral waters in the world. Working with Trust we are delighted to be part of this project and help the Trust to deliver something special for local residents and visitors to enjoy.

Speaking about the new partnership, Adrian Brown, vice chairman of Vision Buxton, said: “It’s great to see Nestlé Waters working so closely with the town.

“The Romans only created seven spa towns in all of Europe and Buxton is one of them, our water is precious and we should be honouring not just where we have come from but where we are going when The Crescent opens.”

Mayor of the High Peak Linda Grooby said: “I think it is absolutely brilliant to see Nestlé Waters getting on board and working on a project in the town, this is great news.”
Dr Mike Monaghan, from Buxton Civic Association said: “As it has already been said this is the perfect partnership this is the right choice and a wonderful meeting of minds and we are delighted Nestlé Waters has shown its commitment to the town in such a way for the foreseeable future.”
