In advance of the meeting later this month with Northern Rail Mr Bingham wants residents to come forward and share any issues or problems regarding the stations or services.

He said: “I met with Northern a couple of months ago, when I raised a number of long-standing issues with them.

“I’m pleased that they agreed to visit the stations with me to discuss the issues in depth, and we’ll be going around them later this month.

“Whilst I am already aware of most of the main issues, thanks to local residents who have raised them with me, I am concerned that smaller issues may not have reached me.

“So I’m asking anyone who does have any issue – small or large – with either their local station or with the service itself, to contact me and let me know, so that I can raise it with Northern Rail.”

Northern Rail has accepted Mr Bingham’s invite to visit each station in the High Peak, to talk through any issues.

Previous issues which were discussed with Northern Rail at a meeting in August included the access and parking at Chinley Station, the frequency of services to Dove Holes and the Hope Valley stations, the re-building of the ticket office at New Mills Newtown station and overcrowding issues, especially at New Mills Central along with fare increases across the board.
