Derbyshire police has given mountain rescuers a helping hand by donating them a former police dog van.

Crime commissioner Alan Charles presented the vehicle to Derbyshire Peak District Mountain Rescue Service at police headquarters in Ripley.

He said: “The service does a fantastic job, not only helping those who have got into many different types of difficulty, but helping the police too.

“Donating this van seems a very small price to pay for the work they are doing for us all.”
