Man who died following A53 crash near Buxton is named by police

Police have named a man who died following a crash near Buxton.

Darren Richards, 49, who was from the Leek area, lost his life following the collision on the A53 at Quarnford.

The collision, which happened shortly before 3pm on Sunday October 29, involved a Suzuki motorcycle and a VW Transporter van.

Mr Richards, who had been riding the motorcycle, was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, but sadly died as a result of his injuries the following day.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Darren's family continue to receive support from specially trained officers and have asked for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.

"Officers from our Collision Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate the incident. If you have any information relating to the collision please contact us on 101, quoting incident 517 of October 29.
