Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was found in a Buxton street with serious head injuries.
The 43-year-old man was found by a passer-by on the pavement in Springdale off St John’s Road at about 11.45pm on Saturday.
He was taken by ambulance to Stepping Hill Hospital before being transferred to Salford Royal Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
It is thought the man had been drinking in the Old Club House and the Old Hall Hotel before making his way home.
A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “Officers are keeping an open mind about how the man came about his injuries and want to hear from anyone who might have seen him walking through Buxton or in the Riverside Court area.”
He was wearing navy jeans, a grey shirt and jumper, a dark duffle coat with a hood and tan boots with cream soles.
Anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting incident 447 of November 22.
