The man, who has not yet been named, was found collapsed at Lawrencefield Quarry, Hathersage, on the evening of Saturday, September 19.
Members of Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams were alerted to the casualty by East Midlands Ambulance Service, which had requested assistance, but despite efforts to revive him he could not be saved.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
