Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Wednesday, August 17, how Ashley Jones, 27, of Kipling Road, Newbold, Chesterfield, sent texts between July 21 and 24 declaring his love, that he missed his ex and that he wished he was with her.

Prosecuting solicitor Sarah Haslam said they were in a relationship for three months and the defendant ended this but when he constantly phoned and texted her to get back together she sought a non-molestation order to stop contact.

However, Jones texted his ex repeatedly in July which caused her alarm and distress, according to Ms Haslam.

Jones accepted to police that he knew an order was in place and there should not have been contact and he pleaded guilty to breaching the order.

Defence solicitor Steve Brint said Jones has learning difficulties and had not fully understood the terms of the order and the texts had not been threatening. Magistrates adjourned the case to consider a probation report before sentencing on September 14.
