Man and woman attacked and robbed in Derbyshire street

Two friends have been assaulted and robbed in an early morning incident on a Derbyshire street.

At around 12.30am on Tuesday, January 26, a 44-year-old man and 33-year-old woman were walking in Albion Street in Ripley when they were approached by two men.

Police say the victims were assaulted and their mobile phones and wallets taken.

The man suffered facial injuries and bruising to his chest while the woman sustained bruising to her face.

Their attackers are both white and in their late teens or early 20s.

One wore dark clothing and had a black face covering which had white skulls on it.

Officers say the other man had a blue scarf over his face.

The robbers had been with a third white man at the nearby Natwest cash point moments before the crime.
