Man accused of wielding knife in Buxton and allegedly assaulting police officer

Police are appealing for witnesses after a police officer was allegedly assaulted in Buxton.

Yesterday, Saturday, September 5, at around 6.15pm, police were called to reports of a man acting suspiciously on Buxton Market Place.

Officers arrived and were allegedly confronted with a man holding a knife.

The man allegedly assaulted a police officer which police claim resulted in the officer requiring hospital treatment.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon.

He remains in police custody.
