Single mum and University of Derby student Lucy Wainwright, from Whaley Bridge, is about to embark on the biggest challenge of her life.
In August she will be travelling to Africa to take part in a trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for SCOPE, the charity for people with cerebral palsy.
Lucy said: “This is an amazing challenge for me. My life is really changing right now. I’m studying to be a counsellor and learning new skills like climbing and snowboarding and I’m also enjoying taking on big projects like this trek. It will support a really great charity and also stretch me personally.
“I don’t want to let my sponsors down so I’m training hard to be fit for this big climb. I have pledged to raise £3,000 for SCOPE.”
Friends and family have already provided generous support but Lucy still has a long way to go to reach her target.
