CAVENDISH HOSPITAL: Petition to save wards reaches 1,000 signatures
The petition was launched in response to the proposed closure of ten specialist mental health beds on the Spencer Ward, and many of the community beds on the Fenton Ward, as part of the Better Care Closer to Home consultation.
Founder of the petition, James Wilson, said: “Spencer Ward at the Cavendish Hospital is earmarked for closure under new proposals.

This is unacceptable and in short we oppose these changes.”
If approved, dementia care would be provided through a Dementia Rapid Response Team (DRRT) on call county-wide.
Eight community hospital beds on the Fenton Ward would become specialist rehabilitation beds, and across the county there would be 44 Beds with Care in nursing or residential homes to replace the other eight.
