LETTER: MP's position is a pleasing one regards academies

It is pleasing to see Andrew Bingham is not in favour of the proposed forced academisation of schools that the leaders of his party are proposing. His grounds for opposing this insane idea are reasonable, that policy should not be based purely on ideology.

What is rather more curious is why he continues to support all the other ideologically driven policies of the government. What is the perpetual austerity strategy if not ideological? Why are all local authorities being cut to the bone if it’s not ideological? etc, etc.

His new train of thought in Mr Bingham’s mind, if followed through to its logical conclusion, may end up making him rather unpopular with those huge fans of the wonders of neo-liberal fundamentalist ideology, Mr Cameron and Mr Osborne.
