MACMILLAN Cancer support is appealing to the people of Buxton to take part in their annual flagship fundraising event,.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning takes place on Friday September 30 or any other date to suit.
The charity relies almost entirely on public donations and without this support would not be able to fund its local work.
Macmillan is looking to make this year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning the biggest ever in the event’s 21-year history. So far, around 19 people have registered to hold a Coffee Morning in Buxton, but it is down compared to many other areas of Derbyshire.
With time running out before the big day, Macmillan is appealing to local people, businesses, groups and schools to register and raise money for people living with cancer.
Area fundraising manager for Derbyshire, Steve Loane, said: “Macmillan is 100 this year and The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is 21 years old, two great reasons to sign up and help us celebrate! The great thing about coffee morning is anybody can take part whether they’re at home or work, even at school or in the community.
“It’s an easy event to get involved in and there’s no right or wrong way to take part. And don’t worry if you can’t hold your event on the official coffee morning day, just organise it at a time that suits you.”
In 2011 we need to raise over £700,000 in Derbyshire to help fund services across the county including nurses, a new mobile information unit, benefits advisors throughout the county and over £125,000 in small grants to people in financial difficulty because of their illness.”
“The important thing is that all the money you raise will help improve the lives of people affected by cancer. So help us make this the biggest coffee morning ever.”
Whether you raise £10, £20 or £200 every cup counts!
