'Large group' travel to High Peak from London, Manchester and Liverpool - to see the moon

Police dispersed a ‘large group’ of people who travelled to the High Peak from Tier 3 areas – to see the moon.

At around 8.30pm on Saturday, a Buxton police spokesperson said around 25 people descended on a woodland area in the Goyt Valley.

The spokesperson added: “They had set up a camp and had travelled from as far as London, Liverpool and Manchester to see the moon.

“Suitable advice was given and they were sent on their way.”

Liverpool and Greater Manchester are currently under Tier 3 coronavirus restrictions.

Everyone living under Tier 3 rules is advised against travelling to or from their area.

On Saturday night, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a second lockdown for England.

It will start on November 5 and end on December 2, he told the nation.

He urged people to ‘stay at home’ to protect the NHS and save lives.

Saturday night was the first time since 1974 that there was a Halloween full moon in the UK.
