The Hollywood stunt performer, and founder and creator of the extreme sport ‘free-running’, was the keynote speaker at the 2018 student welcome conference at the University of Derby’s Centre for Contemporary Hospitality and Tourism.

Central to his speech at the Devonshire Dome was dramatic footage from his international career, which includes performing jaw-dropping stunts in the opening scenes of Casino Royale while being pursued by 007 actor Daniel Craig.

Foucan, who is pictured with senior lecturer Charles Spring, told students: “Not everybody can be a champion, but the most important thing is that you can try.

“It’s a journey to become a champion, and through this journey you learn something.”
